(Tulsa, OK) - Little horses are a big deal in Tulsa. The American Miniature Horse Registry National Championships being held at the fairgrounds have an economic impact of $1.9 million according to the Tulsa Metro Chamber. Lenard Davenport, the show's general manager, says they have about 3,000 exhibitors and 1,500 horses that will be here until September 19th. He says they draw horses from around the country and Canada. He says they even have some competitors from New Zealand this year. Loren Jentlie brought two of her horses from Chandler, AZ. The 15 year old says the miniatures are "wonderful animals. They listen. They're really smart." Jentlie says their strength would surprise you. "People would think oh they're cute and cuddly, they're not going to be as awesome and cool as the big horses but they really are." Davenport says a wide range of groups are vying for over 350 championship titles. He says this is one of the world's largest miniature horse exhibitions. Admission is free.
